■Product Overview
Impulse current generators are primarily used to assess the ability of electrical equipment to withstand steady‑state impulse currents. They are widely employed for conducting impulse current tests on zinc oxide surge arrester elements and can also be utilized in other research‑oriented experiments. Beyond the power‑system operation and electrical‑equipment manufacturing sectors, impulse current generators have found extensive application in cutting‑edge fields such as nuclear physics, particle accelerators, and laser technology. In these domains, the requirements for both the waveform and amplitude of impulse currents are even more stringent than those in the power‑system industry. They are chiefly employed to evaluate the capability of electrical equipment to endure high‑magnitude impulse currents and are extensively used for testing the immunity of surge arresters, as well as electrical and electronic devices, to oscillatory wave disturbances under operational conditions; they may also be applied to other research‑focused test programs.
In response to the diverse requirements for generator applications in power‑system operation and other fields, we have investigated multiple design approaches for waveform impulse current generators and developed a complete set of equipment, thereby reducing capital investment and enhancing equipment utilization. In particular, in recent years, zinc‑oxide surge arresters have increasingly replaced traditional silicon carbide arresters, and their specifications now include several new waveforms beyond the conventional ones; accordingly, research on multi‑waveform impulse current generators has become even more practical and valuable.
The discharge circuit of an impulse current generator is, in essence, a series circuit comprising a resistor, an inductor, and a capacitor. Its operating principle involves first charging the capacitor to a specified voltage, then triggering a spark gap discharge; the resulting current flows through the resistor and inductor, discharging into the test specimen. ( Such as surge arrester valve discs ) It generates current waveforms and amplitudes that meet the specified requirements. By adjusting the circuit parameters, a variety of different waveforms can be obtained. This instrument is capable of producing, 1/<20uS ,4/10uS, 8/20 µs, 10/350 µs 、18/40uS,10/1000uS Standard impulse current waveform; the waveform’s technical specifications comply with national standards and… IEC The provisions of the standard. They primarily include : The impact current generator body, charging device, waveform‑adjusting resistor, waveform‑adjusting inductor, and control system.
