Reliable and effective connection between the grounding down-conductor of power equipment and the grounding grid is the fundamental safeguard for the safe operation of the equipment. The grounding down-conductor serves as the link between the power equipment and the grounding grid; during prolonged operation, this connection may be subject to moisture and other factors, leading to corrosion at the joint or even fracture. Such conditions increase the contact resistance at the connection point between the down-conductor and the main grounding grid, thereby failing to meet the requirements of relevant power‑industry standards and creating safety hazards during operation—potentially resulting in equipment operating with an inadequate ground connection. Consequently, the “Twenty-Five Key Requirements for Preventing Major Accidents in Power Generation” explicitly stipulates that continuity testing of grounding‑system down‑conductors shall be performed annually.
