The DC resistance of a transformer is a mandatory test item during manufacturing—covering semi-finished and finished product acceptance tests—as well as during installation, major overhauls, after adjustments to the tap changer, handover testing, and preventive testing conducted by power utilities. It enables verification of the welding quality of winding connections and detection of inter-turn short circuits in the windings. , It can detect whether the contacts at each position of the tap changer are in good condition, verify that the actual position of the tap changer matches its indicated position, and identify issues such as broken lead wires or broken strands in multi‑strand conductors.
