Over the past 70 years, through trials and tribulations, our motherland has grown prosperous and powerful—like the sun, it has illuminated our future, pointed us toward the right path, and led the people of all ethnic groups across the nation from poverty to affluence, from victory to glory.
The national flag of the People’s Republic of China is red, symbolizing revolution. The five yellow five-pointed stars and their interrelationship represent the great unity of the revolutionary people under the leadership of the Communist Party. The yellow color of the stars is intended to stand out against the red background, while each of the four smaller stars has one point aligned with the center of the larger star, signifying unity around a common center. On National Day, watching the flag-raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square is the cherished dream of countless people. Whenever Watching the Five-Star Red Flag rise slowly, my heart was filled with excitement. Just Beyond words.
Looking back on this Over the past 70 years, every step taken by the Chinese people has been fraught with hardship, each one demanding immense sacrifice. Yet today, after decades of arduous development, China has achieved rapid progress—“riding the wind and breaking through ten thousand miles of waves.” The documentary “Splendid China,” in its episode “Dream‑Realizing Projects,” showcases a series of monumental undertakings—such as the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge, the Humaling Tunnel, the Zhengzhou–Wanzhou Railway, the Fuxing high-speed trains, the automated terminal at Shanghai’s Yangshan Port, and China’s mobile internet—to reveal how, over the past five years, an extensive network of infrastructure projects has woven a hopeful blueprint for the people’s pursuit of happiness and a brighter future, thereby underpinning the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
As people of this era, we should remain grounded and steadily advance along the Long March of the new age. Even amid adversity, we must uphold a steadfast commitment to truth‑seeking and pragmatism, and dare to innovate. Such resolve will surely shape a life that stands apart—and a life thus lived will, in turn, shine in harmony with our times.
